Transitional Shelters to the War Affected People in Abyan

As a result of the destruction brought by the war on Abyan’s infrastructure, thousands  of returnees sustain harsh living conditions whereas, many are left homeless. Families and their young ones shelter under whatever shade they find, and risk their lives facing nature’s unforgiving environment.

The UNHCR  and other International & National Organizations, lay a hand of aid to the helpless and vulnerable returnees who are left homeless  after the destruction brought by the war. This support comes by providing transitional wooden shelters to the homeless returnees that will protect them from the devastating effects of homelessness as well as reducing the environmental impact on the community, and securing minimum living standards to the vulnerable population.

SHS’s role in implementing this aid covers more than 71% of the whole project, as it ensures the construction and distribution of more than 925 transitional wooden shelters by the end of year. The distributions of these shelters begun on the 26th of October and covers khanfar and Zinjubar districts in Abyan.
