SHS Held Awareness Workshop in Kharaz Camp

On Wednesday 13/7/2011 an awareness workshop about water was established in Kharaz camp, which held annually by Society for Humanitarian Solidarity to raise the awareness of camp residents.

The workshop was opened by a representative of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kharaz, who spoken to nearly two hundred people invited to participate, those were:

  • Block leaders
  • Women committee
  • Water committee
  • Camp’s youth
  • Representatives from local community
  • Workers of water department in Kharaz camp
  • Representative of displaced refugees from Sana’a and Harad
  • SHS hygiene promotion team in Kharaz

The lecture was delivered by representative of SHS awareness team and a specialist from the local water and sanitation foundation.

The lecture focused on several topics such as the importance of water in our lives and the best use of it. The lecture also discussed the diseases that spread in Kharaz camp its causes and how to prevent them and their relation with clean water.

The lecture material was distributed to the audience in both Arabic and Somali; also T-shirts bearing the logos of   water awareness were distributed.
